A perfect hardwood floor begins long before the first plank is laid. It starts with a perfectly prepared subfloor and ends with clean, professional trim. We offer comprehensive services to handle your entire project from start to finish, so you don’t have to hire multiple contractors.

  • Subfloor Preparation & Leveling: This is the most critical step for a quiet, long-lasting floor. We will inspect your subfloor and make any necessary repairs, including leveling low spots, grinding high spots, and securing loose panels to prevent squeaks.
  • Old Flooring Removal & Disposal: Don’t worry about the old carpet, tile, or vinyl. Our team will handle the full removal and eco-friendly disposal of your old flooring, leaving a clean, ready-to-install surface.
  • Baseboard & Trim Installation: The finishing touch. We can remove your existing baseboards and reinstall them after the new floor is in, or we can supply and install brand new, pre-primed baseboards, quarter-round, or shoe molding for a crisp, clean finish to your project.

Is subfloor preparation really necessary?

Yes. 100%. Almost all flooring failures—squeaks, gaps, bouncy or hollow spots—are due to an improperly prepared subfloor. Even a brand new subfloor is rarely flat enough for hardwood. Investing in proper leveling and prep is the best insurance you can buy for your new floor.

Sometimes. We will always try to remove your existing baseboards carefully, but older trim can be brittle and may crack or break during removal, especially if it was caulked and painted heavily. We recommend new baseboards for the cleanest, most professional look, but we are happy to try and re-use yours if they are in good condition.

Both are small, thin pieces of trim used to cover the small “expansion gap” left between your new floor and the wall or baseboard.

  • Quarter-Round: Is shaped like a perfect quarter-circle.
  • Shoe Molding: Is also a quarter-circle shape, but it is taller and thinner, giving it a more delicate, less “bulky” profile. We typically recommend shoe molding as it looks more elegant.

    We highly recommend Northwest Hardwood Flooring. We contacted Andy for a bid and he was out the next day with a reasonable bid. Andy and his crew ( Ryan, Sam, Dan ) removed old carpet and installed new oak flooring with inlay in our dinning room and living room. The whole project took less than a week to finish and is absolutely Beautiful.

  • Andy and his crew did an amazing job on my 20+ years old red oak hardwoods. Sand, water, pets and traffic had really beat up these floors. They did a superb job on patching in flooring to cover my old, no longer used floor heat registers. Great low sheen finish-- they look brand new! Highly recommend them!

    Good quality. Great price. Amazing work. So glad I didn't go with vinyl, which is getting pushed hard right now due to easy install and better sales margins. If luxury vinyl looks like real wood, then my real wood floors look like magic. Do yourself a favor and get a timeless, quality floor from Andy and his crew!
